Apple updates Final Cut Pro, iMovie, Clips and Compressor with improvements in YouTube / Facebook sharing

Apple has updated the iMovie, Final Cut Pro and Compressor video applications for Mac with a unified option for sharing on platforms such as YouTube and Facebook. Apple has also updated iMovie and Clips for iOS with similar functionality.

In a new support document, Apple provides instructions on how to share video files from iMovie, Final Cut Pro, Compressor. and clips on YouTube, Facebook and Vimeo. Depending on the app, you have options to adjust the video aspect ratio, resolution, orientation, compression, subtitles and other settings.

These are the instructions for Final Cut Pro:

    1. Select your project in the Final Cut Pro browser, click the Share button, choose YouTube and Facebook. Or choose File> Share> YouTube and Facebook.
    2. In the Share window, click Info to change the clip name, description, and more. Click Settings to choose resolution, compression and subtitle settings.
    3. Click Next, choose a location to share the video file, then click Save.
    4. In Safari or any other browser, enter your YouTube, Facebook or Vimeo account and upload the video. You can also get the Vimeo app for macOS from the Mac App Store to upload your video to Vimeo.

While both iMovie and Final Cut Pro already had options for sharing to YouTube and Facebook, the process has now been unified and refined.
