Barista 4 compatible with macOS Big Sur

Surtees Studios released Bartender 4 for macOS Big Sur, after a long time in beta. In addition to support for macOS 11, this popular tool for hiding or rearranging items on the Mac menu bar now works natively on Mac M1s and comes with various improvements and features.

With the arrival of Big Sur, Apple has increased the space between items in the menu bar, reducing the space available for icons. To alleviate this problem, Bartender 4 allows users to reset pre-Big Sur spacing or even remove spaces to accommodate more icons on the bar.

Bartender 4 also introduces spacers, allowing users to add spaces between groups of menu bar items which can be configurable space, text, or even an emoji, to group menu bar items into similar groups.

New triggers have also been added to display menu bar items, such as image comparisons that show a menu bar item when it matches a specific state and the ability to display scripts to display items, such as when connecting VPNs or AirPods, for example. Other built-in triggers include displaying the battery icon while in use or displaying the Time Machine icon during backup.

With the new Quick Reveal feature, users can get instant access to hidden items in the menu bar by simply moving the mouse over the menu bar or, alternatively, clicking on the menu bar.

Also in this version improvements are made to the Bartender search function, which now has an interface similar to Spotlight. You can also assign "hot keys" to display items in the menu bar.

Bartender 4 costs $ 15 after the four-week free trial, while the user upgrade gets a 50% discount.
