Although many are still waiting for the arrival of the dark theme on Facebook app for android, development of the new feature appears to be slow. At the end of the day, let's not forget that we are talking about the same company that took several years to implement this same feature in the most used app on the planet.
However, Facebook users can already enjoy the dark theme on Android… more or less. Although the social network's original app does not yet include this feature, Facebook has updated the Lite version of the Facebook app to introduce a night mode, which can now be activated.
Turn on night mode on Facebook Lite
As explained in AndroidPolice, the dark theme has become available on Facebook Lite since version 181 of the application. Therefore, the first step in being able to enable this option is to make sure that you have the same or higher edition. Once that requirement is met, the process for enabling dark mode in Facebook Lite is as follows:
- Open the app and tap the three horizontal lines icon on the top left
- In the application menu, look for the option "Dark mode" or "Dark theme"
- Flip the switch and wait for the changes to take effect
Once the option is activated, the application interface will change and white backgrounds will turn to a dark gray hue, thereby improving the contrast and readability of texts outdoors and in low-light conditions.
It is necessary to remember that, despite being available in the stable version, some users still fail to activate Facebook Lite dark theme. However, it is a matter of time before the option reaches all users of the application and we are confident that it will later appear in the "full" version of the social network application.
