How to use hashtags in the Twitter app and on Twitter.com
Understand the role of hashtags on Twitter. The Twitter universe is vast and can be a little confusing to navigate. Hashtags are one of the most important and efficient ways to index keywords and topics on Twitter. Anyone can create a hashtag at any time, simply typing a word (or a series of related words) using the #topic form in a tweet.
- For example, if you were tweeting about reading this article, you could say "Read the #Apps article on using #hashtags with #Twitter." So anyone searching for #Apps, #hashtags or #Twitter will see your tweet.
- After a hashtag is created, other Twitter users can use that hashtag in their tweets to add to the larger conversation around that topic. - Use the blanks in the section "Account" to filter results by who tweeted, who was tweeted to, or who was mentioned in the tweets.
- In the "Filters" section, choose which types of tweets you want to see; For example, if you only want to see original tweets and not replies, slide the "Replies" switch to the off position.
- In the «Involvements» you can choose to view tweets with a certain level of engagement, such as only tweets with a minimum of 280 retweets.
