How to assemble a good computer or PC from parts from 0
The first thing is to have all the components and tools that you will use. The tools you will need are the following:
- Phillips screwdriver.
- Pair of scissors.
- tweezers.
Choose the add-ons that will integrate your computer. This will depend on how you use it ; for example, if you want to connect to the Internet wirelessly, you will need to install a network card. However, the basic pieces that make up each computer are:
- Cabinet or frame.
- Motherboard or motherboard.
- Processor.
- Heatsink.
- RAM.
- HDD.
- Source of energy.
Assembling the motherboard or motherboard
To handle the components it is recommended to use an antistatic bracelet, as possible discharges of this type could damage irreparably a component. The first step is to work on the motherboard and it is very important to choose the best type of motherboard for your computer. To do this, place it on a non-conductive surface.
In the central part of the motherboard there is a square frame. Here is the processor. To install, remove the protective packaging and handle by the edges, without touching any of the pins or contacts. The processor and motherboard have a mark in one of their corners indicating where it goes. To install it correctly you will need to pair them. Lift the latch away from the card, position the processor, and secure it again.
Then a connect the RAM memories in their respective positions. Consult your card's manual to make sure you connect them in the way that provides maximum efficiency, bearing in mind that you can later switch modules from RAM to your PC. Lift the locks and push them until you hear a click. Make sure the card is compatible with RAM. For example, a DDR3 RAM does not fit a DDR4 type connector, but DDR3.
Then, remove the screws that will hold the heat sink. Apply the thermal paste on top of the processor (the amount that looks like a grain of rice).
Then, fix the heat sink with the screws; squeeze them evenly, forming an X and without applying much force when they stop rotating. Finally, plug this component into the board in the socket identified as CPU FAN.
Cabinet or chassis assembly
First, put the protective plate that the motherboard came from the factory. Secure it from the inside out.
The next step it will install the motherboard into the case. To do this, place it on a flat surface and match the doors with the protective plate. If the chassis has pins to place the board, you just need to place it on top of them and screw it in carefully.
If it doesn't, you will need to install the wall plugs or double screws. Note the layout of the board and chassis and screw the board to the cabinet.
Now it's time to place the power source. It must be positioned so that the fan faces towards the external to remove heat. This step is very important, because if you do it wrong you may need to install an additional fan on your PC. Screw it tightly so it doesn't move.
Finally, you need to install the fans provided by the chassis. These have an arrow indicating the direction of the air flow. There may be to let cold air in or to let hot air out.
Interconnection of all hardware parts
Now is the time to interconnect all components. The first thing is to connect the status indicators (those that indicate that the PC is turned on and the hard disk is working). To do this, follow the instructions in the motherboard manual and connect all the corresponding plugs in the section F Panel.
Then plug in the USB ports, which will enable connections on the front. Then connect the corresponding cable to the socket F Audio. Now is the time to connect the fans. You can do this in any connector identified as CYS Fan. Then, connect the hard drives (mechanical or hard) and screw them into the chassis.
Finally, make all the respective connections to the power source and interconnect the hard drives with the motherboard via SATA cables.
Eventually arrange the cables in the best possible way. That way, if you make other changes in the future, you can do it comfortably.
