Before evaluating whether a network connection behaves in an unconventional way , is necessary evaluate the connection speed. This is done via a speed test.
You need to know what the average speed of your connection is and if it changes during the day at specific times. There is a possibility that your internet speed will be affected by the saturation of the network at a given time. If even after you've run the test and determined it's slower than usual, it's time to do some setup.

Download the application from its official website according to the requirements of your Windows OS. TCP Optimizer is backward compatible like Windows XP, up to newer versions like Windows 10.
It weighs only 668 KB and you shouldn't have to do a previous install to use it, as it's an executable. Once the application is downloaded, run it as an administrator to start using it.
Launch the app
The graphical interface of the application is quite simple and is optimized for intuitive use. That is, you don't have to be an advanced user to use it, you just need to know the basics.
The first card of the General Settings, which is what interests us initially, is divided into three sections.
Connection speed. There is a slide bar where you have to select the speed of your Internet connection based on the one assigned by your ISP. In the bar you can choose from a speed of 56 Kbps to about 100 Mbps.
Network adapter selection. In this section, select which network adapter you use to connect to the Internet. Either via USB, the network card to which the ethernet cable or wireless connection card is connected. All available items will be displayed in a drop-down list.
In case your ISP uses PPPoE protocol, you need to check that box and the MTU value will change to 1492. But to make this change manually, the Custom option must be enabled.

The third section consists of several network customization options that you should only change if you know your network. In case you don't have any computer knowledge and want to improve your connection speed, select the Optimal option yes located in the lower right part of the application.
When selecting optimal, all the values are set by default in the best way. Finally, press the Apply Changes button to make the changes take effect.
It therefore allows you to save a configuration backup previous in case something goes wrong. Now reboot the system to verify that the changes have improved the quality of the internet connection. If the result is not what you expect, you always have the option to restore the old configuration with the backup.
