Do you have an XFDL file and can't open it on your PC? It is a little known extension file, but it is compatible with various applications to run it.
What is an XFDL file?
XFDL (Extensible Forms Description Language) is a standard format of the Internet Files category. It is compatible with both Windows and Mac OS computers, making it an accessible format compatible with more than one application.
It is a file type used for commercial transactions, therefore its use is linked to companies, businesses and government bodies. Stores business transaction data, such as purchases, sales, and digital signatures.
In short, it is of legal electronic forms with security and quality seal for online transactions.
I file XFD (Extensible Forms Description) are the same as XFDL. However, the files in the Acrobat Forms Document application use the same file extension, but are not the same.
How to open an XFDL file
Before opening the files it is important to remember that they usually are compressed into a ZIP file. To access the data, the document must first be extracted with applications such as WinZIP.
IBM Forms Designer
XFDL files are usually opened with the application IBM Forms Viewer. There is a free version called IBM Forms Designer that you can also use to edit XFDL files.
You can download the application from its website, where it's in English. But if you don't have a command of the language, you can use the installation and user guide available in more than 25 different languages.
iOS XFDL
For Mac OS users the best option is the iOS XFDL application. It allows to access the contents of the file to print it or, failing that, save it in PDF format.
Text editor
The content of an .xfdl file is text only. So you can use any text editor to see its contents.
There are many free and compatible text editors that you can use such as Notepad or Notepad. You can edit the text and then save it.
I can't open the XFDL file
Damaged file
If you can't open the XFDL file, it is likely corrupted. In that case it is better request a new copy of the same file or download it again.
The integrity of the file may be compromised during the upload or download process. If the connection is interrupted during this process, it may be damaged.
Infected file
Un virus can affect the normal operation of an application or damage a file. To be sure, it is better do an analysis looking for possible threats.

Problems with the application
Try opening the XFDL file and if you can't open it with the application try using another file of the same type. If the program doesn't open any files, it could be the cause of the problem.
Verify that you have the administrative permissions to use the program on your system. If the problem persists, reinstall the application and try to open the file again.
If the problem persists, check it out la the memory and your PC disk. After a while they start crashing and applications stop working properly.
