It's something that I thought at the time we should publish, and that stayed behind until it was forgotten, and it's something I regret.

The escalation - still and as was foreseeable - of cases, deaths and people with sequelae is lightning fast and we risk ending up worse than we were, while the incapable ones who governed us then continue to point to each other shouting "you bring".

Far from taking the lead and acting as a leader (for which we voted them for), all levels, from local to national, try to hide their hands so that the damage that a new confinement will cause in the battered economies of those of us. who always pay for broken dishes not reach them.

Go ahead this: there is no easy solution. As I wrote in a previous article, you have to choose between health or economics, and the nature of the politician is to swim in the waters so that whatever happens, the current doesn't sink him.

The problem is that if health is not chosen, the disease itself will eventually collapse the economy, dragging tens of thousands of people down the road. England, America, etc. They tried and we can see how they fared.

Here (Spain) we think we have already dodged the bullet and are tuning the bagpipes as the figures continue to rise, chaired by inertia and insecurity.

One thing is clear: they still earn our respect, because they know we are sufficiently polarized that when it comes time to vote, everyone will stay in their positions. So if thousands of citizens are to die, so be it.

However, this does not relieve us of our responsibility. Just as in the end the citizens had to go out with shovels to remove the snow from the sidewalks and the streets (and we will see what happens with the garbage) because if we waited for the Administration we would not leave the house until April, even if we waited for this sheep group with scandalous salaries take our lives seriously we will all end up infecting ourselves.

The rules are simple:

  • Don't meet people outside your immediate circle (and keep the limit they mark at all times)
  • Don't stay in the same place for a long time
  • Ventilate regularly and frequently.
  • Always wear a mask, if at home, ffp2
  • Wash your hands every time you come home

The other day a scientist came up with some figures that may help put this into perspective. He said (and I quote from memory):

"People must know that out of two hundred people one will die, five will be hospitalized in intensive care and at least twenty will have sequelae"

It's that simple. Of course you know many people who have gone through it without symptoms or with mild discomfort. But no one will be who the "one" who dies, or the five who will spend weeks in intensive care, or the consequences that will go away (chronic fatigue, respiratory problems, migraines, etc.). If your ticket - or that of your mother, sister or partner - is the one you choose, you won't care about all the asymptomatic people in the world.

Our responsibility is to prevent ourselves from being the culprits (the drivers) of the spread of the virus in our circle. Regardless of whether in two, three, four months they can get us vaccinated (depending on how old you are, you may never get vaccinated or if it costs you money).

Activate Covid-19 exposure notifications

It has been many months since Apple and Google joined forces to find out if you have been in contact with someone who reported being infected. This framework, installed on the same iOS and Android operating systems, works without you having to do anything, because it is connected to the government application (the one you never hear the authorities recommend using): in Spain, Radar Covid.

To turn on notifications on your iPhone you need to go to Settings> Exposure Notifications

There you have various controls that you can turn on or off. The most important is that the Exposure Record Status appears active, which is the system used to know if someone you have been with has reported a positive for Covid.

You also have the button to notify if you have tested positive (and that in this way the system can notify anyone who has been in contact with you).

You can turn it on or off that you remember each month that you have it turned on and a switch to receive notifications if you have been exposed.

Conclusion

I have the completely subjective impression that few or no people use the app to communicate their positive, and the absence of reiteration by the authorities to use it indicates to me that they prefer to have us, as laying hens, calm and vegetative therefore there is no panic, even if three hundred people fall every day.

But as I said, although this sensory deprivation, without kissing, without hugging, without seeing friends, without going out to eat, to the restaurant or to the theater, is very hard, very long and distressing, it does not relieve us of our responsibility to do everything possible. to contain the virus.

Because no one will do it for us ...
