Apple continues to add features to its maps

The Apple Map application receives new updates silently and constantly in Spain, without system updates and without advertisements.

A few weeks ago the changes began by adding the speed limit of the road we are on. Later they added the traffic lights and Stop signs that we couldn't find on our route (not only does it show them on the screen, but Siri's voice refers to them to give us directions).

It recently added the feature to show radars, so you can be careful and don't get home with a ticket. But also the lane function, which shows you the lanes to travel at the next intersection.

Why do I use Apple Maps?

I have always used Apple Maps, thanks to its good integration into the system, for example with Car Play, so that it can be used in the car with ease. But also for its good details in complicated areas (intersections with many intersecting roads ...) where being a vector map, and not a bitmap, it allows you to zoom in without losing quality and with minimal data consumption.

If you're concerned about privacy, Apple Maps is obviously your application, as you make sure they don't use it to deliver your data, movements, habits… to the highest bidder.

Predictions

Apple Maps' arrival time prediction is very good, in most cases it was perfectly correct.

An important part of all of this is knowing the traffic status. When I traveled for work (before the pandemic) I put the map every day, even if, as you can imagine, I knew the route by heart. But it saved me from many traffic jams, if due to an accident, for any details, the application changed route. Also for the queue at certain motorway exits, not just on the main roads.

Since then I have always used the application on all my travels, even in known areas.
