Apple will launch Big Sur on November 12

Apple has announced that macOS Big Sur will launch tomorrow, Thursday 12 November. The announcement was made during the “One More Thing” event where the new Mac mini, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro with M1 chip were presented.

macOS Big Sur was unveiled at WWDC in June and will offer an updated look at what Apple considers to be the best update for macOS since the introduction of Mac OS X. This includes controlling window corner curves and Dock icons.

Though subtle, the changes are rejuvenating from the current version of macOS. other changes include clearer windows with additional translucent effects, a more translucent Dock, new application icons with a “circular” shape (neither circular nor square, but both), new system sounds and more.

There are new features in the menu bar with access to a customizable Control Center which includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and AirDrop, keyboard brightness, Do not disturb, Dark mode, sound level and more. Likewise, the Notification Center has been redesigned with more interactive notifications grouped by apps and widgets (in the style of iOS) in three dimensions.

Many of Apple's applications also incorporate improvements: Safari is faster and more efficient with battery drain, messages support effects, @mentions, responses to specific lines and more, Maps incorporates Look Around, internal maps and Guides; Photos increase its editing capabilities, and Apple Music includes a Listen Now section.

    From tomorrow much more ...
