As part of the civil-military collaboration, the Spanish social entity Ayúdame3D has produced and donated more than 30 trésdesis, 3D printed weapons, which will be delivered by Spanish army troops on their missions in Lebanon, Mali and Senegal. This alliance was created to be able to bring this type of aid to more places in the world, especially in areas where, otherwise, it would be very difficult to reach.
As Lieutenant Colonel Galindo, in charge of operations command in the CIMIC section explained, “what we do is see the needs of the population in the different areas. This type of actions in support of the civilian population, framed in what are called CIMIC, civil-military cooperation actions, also favor Spain and the operation, ”he says.
To carry out this collaboration, the NGO Ayúdame3D has trained the personnel of the troops who are on the ground, teaching them to act and request weapons. “We have offered the military training that consists of capturing possible beneficiaries in different territories and taking the necessary steps to manufacture the devices, so that when they arrive they know how to place them and how to maintain a medium- to long-term following,” he says. . The more than 30 weapons that the army requested from Ayúdame3D were produced by the NGO and its network of 3D experienced volunteers, Helpers3D. In the coming weeks these tresdesi will travel to their destination.
This is the first collaboration between the Spanish army and Ayúdame3D. Gauna-Vivas notes that she hopes to continue with this type of alliance as “it is essential to be able to reach people who do not yet know they can be helped. Our goal is to improve the quality of life of people around the world thanks to the social value of new technologies ".
