August 29 is International Gamer's Day, and this year's edition is particularly special, as video games were a major outlet during confinement. The social player
The sociable player is the one who lives connected online, and for whom the console is practically another social network. All of the games in his collection are cooperative or competitive online, and many of his best friends don't yet have a face but a voice. Some of a social gamer's favorite gadgets are headphones with a microphone to use during their 100% digital games or games like Destiny 2 or PlayerUnknown's BattleGround (or PUBG)
The competitive player
The competitive player is the "first cousin" of the sociable, albeit in his case online gambling is just an excuse to bring out his inner desire for competition. Co-op games are not for him, and when he plays them he tends to play alone. Among his favorite gadgets there are also headphones, but the TOP option to give him today would be a new controller for the console (in case he ends up with his after a defeat ...), or challenge him with one of the most competitive games par excellence: the Dark Souls.
The cinephile player
In contrast to the previous two, it is the gamer who experiences video games as a private experience. It is a profile that wants to play alone and live the experience of a complete video game. The gamer wants to be told a story, as if he were watching an interactive movie. For those who want to enjoy the game as if it were in the cinema, there is nothing better than a soundbar and a 4 ”55K TV to achieve maximum immersion while playing.
The sports player
There are also those who, contrary to popular opinion that consider video games as a sedentary activity, use games as extra motivation to exercise. From typical dance arcades that triumphed in arcades, to new games that leverage motion sensors on consoles to simulate games of tennis, boxing, karate, dance, or any other discipline, even fitness crazies have their place in the community of players. A special mention should be made to the video game Ringfit Adventure for Nintendo Switch, which was the personal trainer of all the players during the confinement. And for those who prefer to play sports simply by flicking their thumbs, there are always options like FIFA 20 or NBA 2K20 to feel like an elite athlete without breaking a sweat.
The traveling player
Finally, the gamer who takes his hobby with him everywhere and takes advantage of his downtime to play his favorite video games. The coffee break or while traveling by public transport, every moment is good to resume the game. For them, without a doubt, the best option is Nintendo Switch, a console born with a “globetrotting” vocation.
And for those who are not yet part of the community of 'players', it always remains to put themselves into the world, both from consoles and from computers, and thus discover which category they belong to.
