How to activate the “Watch is charged” notification using WatchOS 7 and iOS 14

One of the new features of WatchOS 7 and iOS 14 is that it has an option for the iPhone to show a notification when the Apple Watch you have connected is 100% charged. The feature was announced at WWDC 2020.

To activate this notification, you need to go to the “Sleep” section in the Apple Watch app on the iPhone. While it sounds strange, one could understand the logic that the people who need the warning that the battery is full are the ones who use the watch to monitor their sleep, and therefore cannot charge the watch at night because they are wearing it. .

The problem is, if you haven't set your watch to track sleep in the Health app, the setting for these battery notifications doesn't appear in the Apple Watch app. If you haven't, you will only see a message telling you to go to the Health application (see pictures):

When you turn on sleep in the Health app (a multi-step process that requires you to fill out a few screens for setting sleep goals and a sleep schedule), the Sleep section in the Apple Watch app changes its content once you've turned it on and the battery notification setting is obvious:

If all you want is to be able to know on the iPhone when the Apple Watch has finished charging and you will never use it to monitor your sleep hours, turn off the rest of the options and leave only notifications turned on.

Despite everything, it's quite confusing and pointless that a notification about a device's full charge requires activating a whole set of settings that - most likely - you won't use if you didn't even know they existed. That this functionality is buried there instead of in the Notifications section is a notable inconsistency.

While we're here, I wish the Apple Watch would be able to notify me when the iPhone's battery is fully charged. Apple, how about including this option too?
