Thanks to this feature, whenever you want show a friend your favorite moment in a video, you won't have to scroll forward or backward to find the exact start and end minutes and seconds, you just have to create the clip and send it to them. On the other hand, all the clips you will create will be added to the “Clip” section that you found in "Library". Therefore, YouTube allows you to group your favorite snippets to watch them again whenever you want.
At the moment this tool is only available in some channels selected by the Google service, it is not known how many and what they are. Therefore, you should check if the “Clip” option appare below the video to find out if it is enabled with the publications of a channel or not.
As we said at the beginning, we have already tried these new YouTube clips and we explain how to create them, step by step:
- Go to YouTube and open the video that contains the snippet you want to convert to a clip.
- Click on the "Clip" option that appears under the video title, represented by a scissors icon.
- First, write a title for the clip, it is mandatory. So it's time to select the specific fragment, which can be between 5 and 60 seconds. The clip has a default duration of 15 seconds, but you can shorten or lengthen it with the sliders.
- When you're done editing, click "Share clip".
- Select through which platform you want to share as a link and voila, you will have already created and shared a YouTube clip.
The user who clicks on the link will directly access the video clip on YouTube which, as we have said, will be played in a loop. At the bottom of the window you will see two very important buttons: one that allows you to share the video and another that takes you to the original video to see it in full.
While the YouTube Clip feature is not yet available for all creators' publications, it is already a serious candidate to become one of the most successful tools on the platform, as it adds a new option to show others our favorite snippets without forcing them to watch the entire video.
