There are many reasons why you may want to make a phone call using a hidden number. Whatever your mobile, you can make your number private when carry out a call. Furthermore, although there are many applications that promise to hide your phone number, you should know that it is not even necessary to resort to a third-party app to be able to do this, as all mobile phones include this option.
You should know, of course, that in some countries like Spain, commercial calls with a hidden number are not allowed, so it's best to think twice if you have a business and are considering using this technique to communicate with your customers. On the other hand, it can be useful when calling a company if you want to avoid our number being stored in its database.
How do hidden number calls work?
Something not everyone knows is that the process of hide our phone number during the call it falls into the hands of the telephone operator with whom we contracted our line.
In particular, when we activated this service, the telephone operator does not provide the recipient with the caller's phone number. Therefore, the identifier "Hidden number" or "Private number" will appear on the screen.
How to call with hidden number on Android
Now that it is clear how this type of call works, just activate the option that allows us to make our number appear private or put it as a private number. On Android, there are two ways to do this:
Hide phone number from settings
Although the process will differ depending on the software used by the terminal, in general the steps are similar. For make your number private through the settings, you just need to do the following:
- Open your mobile app
- Access the settings menu and access the "Additional settings" section
- Select the Caller ID or similar option and select the "Hide number" option
That way, the next time you make a call, the your phone number will not be shared with the recipient. Remember that if you want to show the number, you have to follow the same steps above and select the "Show number" option.
Call with a hidden number using a code
However, there is an even faster alternative to withholding your number before making a call and works on both Android and iOS. It consists of writing the prefix # 31 # before the phone number you want to call. For example, if you want to call 666777888, you just need to dial the following before calling:
# 31 # 666777888
In this way, you won't have to go around turning the option to hide the number on and off, but only your number will be hidden in calls where you include the area code. Note, of course, that this code works in Spain, but not in other countries and that it may not work with all telephone operators.
