After years of waiting, Android 10 has finally introduced the dark theme in the operating system. The latest version of the platform offers the possibility of activate a dark mode via the system settings, which will change automatically the appearance of the apps installed on the mobile. At least of those that support this option.
But obviously this is android. And we already know that not all mobile phones will get the update to Android 10 and those that do, with a few exceptions, will in the coming months.
However, the disadvantage of operating system fragmentation is, in this case, justified by the freedom it offers developers. And is that thanks to a free application created by the developer Julian Eggers, it is possible activate the dark theme even on mobile phones that do not include this option.
Activate the dark theme on your mobile with Dark Mode Dark
As I said, the application can be downloaded totally free on Google Play. Furthermore, its operation is extremely simple. Once installed, the tool offers us three different options:
- Day mode
- Night mode
- Car
By checking the second option, corresponding to the dark theme, if available, the device theme will turn dark. According to the app developer, some signature terminals such as Xiaomi or Samsung they do not support this function.
In addition to this, the dark theme will also be activated in all applications that support it, such as Instagram, Google Fit, Google Chrome, Pocket Casts, Google Play, and many other popular apps. This list will grow as the respective developers update their apps. Google itself has, today, a large number of applications that already have a dark theme available.
On the other hand, Dark Mode includes a useful option that even Android 10 doesn't natively have. This is the automatic dark theme, which allows you to change the appearance of the system depending on the time of day. Like this, during the day the theme of the system and apps will be clear, and at night it will become dark. To use this feature, it is only necessary mark the third option that the app offers us.
And this is all! Now you can enjoy the dark theme in all apps that support it and, if it is compatible, also in your device interface. Beyond a cosmetic issue, some research has established that the dark theme can help save battery life on our phones. However, there are also those who think that this function can be harmful to our eyesight.
